COMP LAUDE™ AWARDS & GALA – NOMINEE CONFIRMATION
Thank you for taking the time to nominate someone for a Comp Laude™ Award!
Please review the information you have provided:
Nominee type: person
First name: Don
Last name: Risser
Title: Licensed Acupuncturist
Employer: Hi-Desert
Phone: 7602282644
Email: unknown
Category: Medical Comp Laude
Years known: 1-3 years
Accomplishment 1:
In a quiet zen-like office setting, Don Risser practices the ancient art of healing acupuncture. Treatments (self-procured primarily) since August 2013 have provided measurable improvements in vision processing, improvements in speech dysfluency, depression relief, headache relief, as well as negating the need for right shoulder rotator cuff tear, for which the primary treating doctor requested surgery in 2013, but as customary, medical care was denied. These accomplishments count for at least 4 accomplishment that the MDs were unable to come close to.
Accomplishment 2:
With a background in law, and a present in helping humanity one person at a time, Don’s practice seems to include a good number of private patients as well as Injured Workers, through various referral programs. In all cases, he simply applies the principles of this ancient art. With the above referenced right shoulder issue, one set of a small number of treatments was authorized for ‘only the right shoulder’ and rather than fight, Don, during those sessions, focused solely on the right shoulder. The benefits to other body parts could not be prevented. While it has been a slow process, along with some chiropractic in recent months (also self-procured) pain levels have been reduced to negligible and range of motion is as normal as can be expected, and movement is no longer guarded. What a cost savings to the insurance company….! Acupuncture works!
Accomplishment 3:
Don’s understanding of neurology and the brain are so important, and evidenced in the over all improved outlook, speech, motion, vision and more thanks to his expertise. The auditory processing issues have not been addressed directly, but in light of more legal chicanery with intent to cause further harm, future sessions may have to include auditory processing issues.
Accomplishment 4:
Don has been the only stable ‘provider’ since the date of injury, which was 1/9/12. I found him in the summer of 2013, a referral from local colleagues. The kindness, tenacity, understanding and encouragment from Don truly exemplify that adage to “Do No Harm”… in fact, Don spreads happiness, joy, hope, well being and to all with whom he comes in contact.
Why this nominee deserves a Comp Laude™ Award:
Don has been the only stable ‘provider’ since the date of injury, which was 1/9/12. I found him in the summer of 2013, a referral from local colleagues. The kindness, tenacity, understanding and encouragement from Don truly exemplify that adage to “Do No Harm”… in fact, Don spreads happiness, joy, hope, well being and to all with whom he comes in contact. In this rural area, with many abused Injured Workers, Don is a bright light in our lives, and we are all most grateful for his presence in the community and in our lives. Future medical needs have included a recommendation for ‘life time acupuncture’ and I’m grateful to know that Don’s expertise is here. What a gift! Thank you, Don!
